Nearly 7,000 Catholic school students return to the classroom this week across Arkansas. There are 28 Catholic schools, including one new school in northwest Arkansas. Ozark Catholic Academy is opening Aug. 16 for ninth and 10th grade students in Tonitown with plans to add the 11th grade in 2019 and the 12th grade in 2020. To learn more, visit the schools website, follow it on Facebook or read this week's Arkansas Catholic.
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Little Rock range from preschool to high school in 18 cities statewide. The staffs of these schools have been preparing for the new school year for weeks, especially the principals. They attended a special retreat in July at Subiaco Abbey to enjoy fellowship, get updates from the Catholic Schools Office and prepare themselves spiritually for the important job of leading all those in their care into relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church.
To learn more about our Catholic schools, see the school map, statistical information or read the Catholic Schools Herald, which is published four times a year by Arkansas Catholic. To see the calendar for a Catholic school near you, visit our Catholic Schools Directory.
The Catholic Schools Office oversees the state's Catholic schools. For more information, contact the office or read the Back to School section in the Aug. 18 issue of Arkansas Catholic. In addition to covering the new school that is opening, the newspaper will feature new principals, scholarship opportunities and explain how parents can use their Arkansas 529 college fund for K-12 education.
