Four to be ordained deacons in May

Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will ordain four diocesan seminarians to the transitional diaconate in May. They include Norman McFall May 20; Dr. Joseph Chan May 26; and Taryn Whittington and Mario Jacobo May 28. These will bring the total to five diaconate ordinations so far in 2015. Deacon Stephen Gadberry was ordained to the diaconate March 27.
McFall will be ordained at St. Joseph Church in Pine Bluff, on Wednesday, May 20. Guests are invited to come early for eucharistic adoration and vespers to pray for him and an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life at 4 p.m. The ordination Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. with a reception to follow.
McFall will serve his first Masses in the role of deacon Saturday, May 23 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. He is the son of the late Norman and the late Dixie McFall. He is currently studying at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana in preparation for ordination to the priesthood. To learn more, read or watch his vocation story. Chan will be ordained at St. Boniface Church in Fort Smith, on Tuesday, May 26. Guests are invited to come early for eucharistic adoration and vespers to pray for him and an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life at 4 p.m. The ordination Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. with a reception to follow.
Chan will serve his first Masses in the role of deacon Saturday, May 30 at 4 p.m. in English and 5:30 p.m. in Spanish and Sunday, May 31 at 8 and 10:30 a.m. in English at St. Boniface Church. He is the son of Circuncision Tan and the late Modesto Chan. He is currently studying at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana in preparation for ordination to the priesthood. Jacobo will serve his first Mass in the role of deacon Friday, May 29 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church in Little Rock. He is the son of María Urtes. Whittington will serve his first Masses in the role of deacon Saturday, May 30 at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 31 at 8:30 a.m., 12:05 and 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral. He is the son of Richard and Regina Whittington. He is currently studying at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana in preparation for ordination to the priesthood.
