Easter Vigil Mass 2024 Published: Saturday, March 30, 2024 Today is Jesus’ day of victory. It can be our day of victory too. Those who are united with Jesus in likeness to his death will share in a like resurrection. This share in Jesus’ victory begins in this life for those who have been born again in baptism and live already the life of the Kingdom of God. And it continues in eternal life for those who share fully in Jesus’ victory. |
Easter Vigil 2023 Published: Saturday, April 8, 2023 We know that in the end the light is stronger than the darkness, and we are sons and daughters of the light. |
Easter Vigil 2022 Published: Saturday, April 16, 2022 By cooperating with the power of God’s grace, you can overcome all those inner fears and insecurities that prevent you from really dying to yourself so as to live fully for God. Jesus has set us free and enabled us to face our fears and bear our own crosses courageously so as to then wear a crown, sharing fully ourselves in the fruits of Jesus’ victory. |

Easter Sunday 2020 Published: Sunday, April 12, 2020 You and I are gathered here today to proclaim the Good News that sin and illness and death do not have the last word. COVID-19 has caused a crisis that, like everything else, God will use for his purposes. If he can take Jesus’ gruesome death on Good Friday and turn it into the most powerful instrument of salvation ever, he can certainly take the worst effects of the coronavirus and do the same. |
Easter Vigil 2020 Published: Saturday, April 11, 2020 Do we truly believe that Jesus rose from the dead and — more fundamentally — that by placing our faith, our trust in him, by doing things his way, we can have a share in his victory? Even when it means “passing through the valley of the shadow of death” ourselves? |
Easter Vigil 2019 Published: Saturday, April 20, 2019 Baptism achieves its full effect only when we transfer our allegiance from the enslaving disvalues of this world to the freedom of life in Christ. In dying to this world we say, in effect, “world, you do what you need to do and I’ll do what I need to do.” |
Easter Vigil 2017 Published: Saturday, April 15, 2017 You and I are called to be sons and daughters of the light. ... Jesus sends us forth to bring the light we experience today to others. Light is not supposed to be left behind at the church door when we return to what is falsely called "the real world." |
Easter Vigil 2016 Published: Saturday, March 26, 2016 Jesus has set us free and enabled us to face our fears and bear our own crosses courageously so as to then wear a crown, sharing fully ourselves in the fruits of Jesus’ victory! |
Easter Vigil 2015 Published: Saturday, April 4, 2015 Through baptism Jesus freed us from the power of sin and death and gave us a share in his Easter victory. |
Easter Vigil 2014 Published: Friday, April 18, 2014 Jesus continues to opt preferentially for those who lack standing in human society — just has he had always done throughout his public ministry |
