A total of 418 students from five Catholic high schools in Arkansas graduated in May. Commencement exercises were held May 14-27 at the following schools:
Subiaco Academy — The baccalaureate Mass was celebrated at St. Benedict Church followed by the graduation in the inner courtyard on Saturday, May 14. The valedictorian was Kangkyu Kim of Seoul, South Korea. The salutatorian was Nicholas Ryan Langston of Fort Smith. The newspaper also featured graduate Jarrod Brown, who relied on his Subiaco Academy family to heal after three surgeries this year.
St. Joseph High School, Conway — The graduation Mass was held Sunday, May 15 at St. Joseph Church. The co-valedictorians were Sarah Beth Briggler, Landon Bryan Bruich and Mary Rose Siebenmorgen. The newspaper also featured graduate Trey Hickey, whose spirit hasn't been broken after enduring leukemia for 10 years.
Sacred Heart High School, Morrilton — The graduation ceremony was held at Sacred Heart Church on Sunday, May 15. The valedictorian was Nicholas Hoelzeman and the salutatorian was Chloe Andrews. The newspaper also featured graduate Elizabeth Warren, who survived abuse as a child and plans to become a Presbyterian minister and missionary.
Mount St. Mary Academy, Little Rock — Commencement was held at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock on Thursday, May 26. The newspaper also featured graduate Katie Zakrzewski, who learned what really matters after visiting hospice patients as a service project.
Catholic High School, Little Rock — The graduation ceremony was held on the school’s Roy Davis Field in Little Rock on Friday, May 27.
