Bishop Anthony B. Taylor accepted 62 men to candidacy for ordination during a special Mass Sept. 8 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. These candidates make up the Diocese of Little Rock permanent diaconate formation class of 2022.
Previously called aspirants, these candidates have completed their first year of a five-year formation program. The first year focused on human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral formation.
Now as candidates these men will begin their theology studies. The 44 English-speaking candidates and their wives take classes at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock, in a program offered by St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana.
The remaining 18 Spanish-speaking candidates and their wives take classes at Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco with local priests serving as instructors.
