Basil H. Taylor, father of Bishop Anthony B. Taylor, died peacefully Sept. 19. He was 90 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rachel Taylor. He is survived by his seven children, 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A wake and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City, Okla. Bishop Taylor will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial for his father at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 at St. Mary Church in Ponca City, Okla. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. In addition, Father Greg Luyet, diocesan judicial vicar, will celebrate a memorial Mass for Basil Taylor at noon in Morris Hall Chapel on the grounds of St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock on Monday, Sept. 23 for those unable to attend the funeral in Oklahoma. Please keep Bishop Taylor and his family in your prayers during this time.
