Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will ordain Deacons Nathan Ashburn and John Paul Hartnedy to the priesthood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27 at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. A reception will follow the Mass in McDonald Hall. All are invited to attend. If unable to attend in person, watch the ordination live.
The night before, on Friday, May 26, a holy hour to pray for them and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral.
Deacon Ashburn, 34, will celebrate his first Mass at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, May 28 at the Cathedral. He will begin his first assignment on July 1 as associate pastor of Christ the King Church in Little Rock and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Roland (Little Italy).
He is the son of Juliann and Deacon Charles Ashburn of Little Rock. He recently completed his studies for the priesthood at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. To learn more about him, read Arkansas Catholic or his vocation story.
Deacon Hartnedy, 26, will celebrate his first Mass at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 28 at St. Edward Church in Little Rock. He will begin his first assignment on July 1 as associate pastor of St. Edward Church in Texarkana, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Ashdown and Sacred Heart Church in Foreman.
He is the son of Stephanie and Deacon Danny Hartnedy of Little Rock. He recently completed his studies for the priesthood at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. To learn more about him, read Arkansas Catholic or his vocation story.
