Torres raps for Catholic Extension series

Serio Torres, associate director of the Office of Faith Formation in Little Rock, was one of several Catholic artists who have performed concerts livestreamed on Catholic Extension’s website and Facebook page. The aim of the online concert series is to lift people’s spirits during a time of struggle and uncertainty caused by the pandemic, while also promoting the vitality of the Catholic faith in the poor communities in U.S. mission dioceses supported by the Chicago-based organization.

Torres’ rap show, which was shown May 6, can be found at catholicextension.org, or watch the video below. His performance begins at 1:37, which includes three rap songs he wrote because he said, "I wanted to thank God for everything he did in my life."

Torres coordinates Fuerza Transformadora (Transforming Force) and Escuela de Evangelización San Andrés (St. Andrew School of Evangelization) for the diocese. He founded Fuerza Transformadora in 2006. It is a Catholic movement that aims to reach people who are struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, gang life and violence and help them learn about God and change their lives. Catholic Extension provides grants to dioceses across the country that want to implement the Fuerza Transformadora ministry in their communities.

Catholic Extension launched “Songs in Solidarity” March 31 to support mission dioceses across the country who, already struggling for daily survival, have been thrown into further turmoil because of COVID-19.
