Attend retreat to protect kids from gangs
Fuerza Transformadora (Transforming Force) is sponsoring a Spanish-language retreat March 13-15 at St. Theresa Church in Little Rock to educate parents about what draws kids into drugs and gang life and what they can do to stop it from happening before their children are old enough to join. Register for CYM Convention by March 9
The 70th annual Diocese of Little Rock Catholic Youth Convention will be held April 3-5 at Robinson Center and the DoubleTree Hotel in Little Rock. This year's keynote presentation will be provided by Doug Tooke and Katie Prejean with special sessions on various forms of prayer. This year's theme is: "Rescued." Class for couples seeking convalidation
Convalidation classes are offered for couples who are married civilly (i.e., "outside the Catholic Church") and who wish to have a valid marriage recognized by the Church. Canon law requires that Roman Catholics marry according to sacred ritual before a priest or deacon, unless a dispensation (permission) is received from the Church beforehand. If a Catholic does not observe this requirement and marries outside the Church, his or her marriage is not valid. The next Retrouvaille weekend will be held Feb. 21-23 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. The weekend is followed by a series of 6 to 12 post-weekend sessions over a three-month period. It provides tools to help couples with troubled marriages to heal. The main emphasis of Retrouvaille is on communication in marriage between husband and wife. Father John Connell, vicar general, will celebrate the annual Mass for Life Sunday, Jan.19 at noon in the Wally Allen Ballroom at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. Discern religious life at Feb. 14-15 retreat
The 2020 Women's Religious Discernment Retreat will be held Feb. 14-15 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. Single women ages 16 to 35 who want to learn about and discern a vocation to the religious life are welcome to attend.
