A Cursillo for women will be held Nov. 30 - Dec. 3 at the House of Blessings in Eureka Springs. This weekend retreat for adults will be presented in Spanish. Arkansas Catholic will host an 11-day pilgrimage to see the world-famous Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, in June 2020. This event only happens every 10 years so tickets are highly coveted. Pilgrims will also visit Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. Father Erik Pohlmeier will be the spiritual director. The cost is $3,939 per person for double occupancy. This includes lodging, breakfast and dinner, entrance fees to scheduled sites but does not include airfare at this time. A $600 deposit is required at the time of registration. Taylor released the following statement regarding Matthias Heppel on Tuesday, Oct. 31 2017. “Last year, it came to my attention that a man named Matthias Heppel was presenting himself as a Catholic priest and administering sacraments in the areas of Yellville and Cherokee Village. We investigated the matter and learned that he had previously been associated with a schismatic group in the Diocese of Orlando; was purportedly ordained to the priesthood in 2014; and moved to Highland, Arkansas, in December 2016. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor announced the following pastoral appointments for the Diocese of Little Rock on Oct. 26, 2017. Effective Jan. 19, 2018: Dc. Nelson Rubio, to be ordained to the priesthood on Dec. 16, 2017, appointed associate pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in North Little Rock (Marché), and St. Mary Church in North Little Rock. The Diocese of Little Rock Encuentro will be held at Barton Coliseum at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds in Little Rock from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. All are invited to attend. This daylong event will include a bilingual Mass celebrated by Bishop Anthony B. Taylor at 4 p.m. and presentations by Msgr. Scott Friend, VG, diocesan director of vocations, and Father Mauricio Carrasco, pastor of St. Andrew Church in Danville and St. Augustine Church in Dardanelle. Pope Francis recently launched the "Share the Journey" campaign to create a "culture of encounter" with migrants and refugees, "who now number some 65 million around the world, the biggest such crisis since World War II." This two-year campaign was created by Caritas International, a global network of Catholic charitable organizations that include Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities USA in the United States.
