63 men in new diaconate formation class
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor recently accepted 63 aspirants for the Diocese of Little Rock Diaconate Formation Class of 2028. Their five-year formation program to become permanent deacons begins in August. Of the men accepted, 38 will be in the English-language program and 25 will be in the Spanish-language program. All will attend monthly, weekend classes 11 months a year with their wives at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. Hartnedy, Ashburn to be ordained May 27
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will ordain Deacons Nathan Ashburn and John Paul Hartnedy to the priesthood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27 at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. A reception will follow the Mass in McDonald Hall. The night before, on Friday, May 26, a holy hour to pray for them and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral. Eveld to be ordained to diaconate May 19
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will celebrate the diaconate ordination Mass of Cody Eveld at 6 p.m. Friday, May 19 at St. Benedict Church on the grounds of Subiaco Abbey. Being ordained a transitional deacon is a major step toward priestly ordination. A reception will follow in Fuhrmann Hall. All are invited to attend. The Ascension of the Lord celebrates Jesus' ascension into heaven and his coming into glory at the right hand of the Father. It occurred 40 days after his resurrection from the dead, which falls on Ascension Thursday. New Divine Mercy Shrine to be open daily
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will open a new Divine Mercy Shrine for the Diocese of Little Rock on Sunday, June 11, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). The special celebration will begin with a bilingual Mass at 12:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. Participants will then process one mile to St. Edward Church where Bishop Taylor will bless the new image of the Divine Mercy and lead the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor announced the following pastoral appointments, May 1, 2023, for the Diocese of Little Rock. Effective May 3: Rev. James Burnie, CSSp, relieved of his responsibilities as pastor of St. Mary Church in Saint Vincent (Hattieville) to begin retirement; Msgr. Jack D. Harris appointed pastor of St. Mary Church in Saint Vincent (Hattieville).
