The Catholic Campus Ministry program in Conway launched its “Sacred Space, Sacred Time” capital campaign to build a new chapel and multipurpose building at the University of Central Arkansas in the fall of 2020. The Diocese of Little Rock ministry serves students at UCA, Hendrix College, Central Baptist College, along with all other college-aged people in the Conway area and the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. The 84th annual Arkansas Catholic Schools Professional Day will be held Friday, Sept. 24. In the morning, Catholic school principals and teachers from Little Rock and North Little Rock will attend Mass and the keynote address at Christ the King School in Little Rock, while all other Catholic school educators in the state will watch via livestream. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor said priests in Arkansas could not facilitate a “religious exemption” for employers’ COVID-19 vaccination mandate. In a letter to priests dated Aug. 23, 2021, Bishop Taylor instructed priests to decline to sign any religious exemption documents.
