Bishop releases pastoral change March 17
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor announced the following pastoral appointment, March 17, 2022, for the Diocese of Little Rock. Effective April 21: Rev. Andreas Kedati, SVD, a priest of the Society of the Divine Word, appointed pastor of St. Peter Church and St. Raphael Church in Pine Bluff and St. Justin Church in Star City; and Rev. Eric Groner, SVD, relieved of his responsibilities as pastor of St. Peter Church and St. Raphael Church in Pine Bluff and St. Justin Church in Star City to continue his ministry with the Society of the Divine Word. ... Arkansas to take part in eucharistic revival
The Diocese of Little Rock will join other dioceses across the United States in participating in the three-year, "National Eucharistic Revival: My Flesh for the Life of the World" beginning in June. Two Masses will be celebrated in Little Rock and Rogers to kick off the observance in Arkansas, which aims to increase devotion to and belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Bishop welcomes those becoming Catholic
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor met more than 400 catechumens and candidates during four Rite of Election services across the Diocese of Little Rock March 3-7. Each year, bishops in dioceses worldwide personally welcome those going through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process during the Rite of Election, a special service usually held at the beginning of Lent. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor addressed the following letter, March 2, 2022, regarding nuclear disarmament, to the people of the Diocese of Little Rock. Bishop issues statement about Ukraine
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor released the following statement, Feb. 25, 2022, on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. "Since the time of St. Augustine, the Catholic Church has used the Just War theory to help discern when and how force might be applied in the defense of the nation in time of conflict — a timely topic in these days of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The teaching of the Church regarding war and peace is spelled out very clearly in articles 2263-2267 and 2302-2317 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Pope: Fast for peace this Ash Wednesday
We enter into Lent this year after two years of pandemic and now the threat of war. Pope Francis is appealing to everyone "believers and non-believers alike" to make Ash Wednesday a "day of fasting for peace on March 2." He said his "heart aches greatly" for the situation in Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia Feb. 24. 2022 CYM Convention to be held April 8-10
The 70th annual Diocese of Little Rock Catholic Youth Convention is scheduled for April 8-10 at Robinson Center and the DoubleTree Hotel in Little Rock. This event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so high school youth have not gathered for this event since April 2019. This year's keynote presentation will be provided by Jackie Francois Angel and other special guests. She is a Catholic speaker, vlogger, worship leader and author.
