Pope Francis: Pray rosary daily in October
Pope Francis is asking the Catholic faithful worldwide to pray the rosary every day in October, which is traditionally known as the month of the rosary. His invitation issued on Sept. 29, the feast of the archangels, explained that doing this would join us "in communion and in penitence, as the people of God, in asking the holy Mother of God and St. Michael, the archangel to protect the Church from the devil, who always seeks to separate us from God and from each other." Katie Prejean speaker for junior high rally
The Diocese of Little Rock will host its one-day Junior High Youth Rally Sunday, Nov. 11 at Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock. This year’s theme, "Love Transforms Identity," which is based on John 8:11 will be presented by Katie Prejean McGrady. She is an international speaker and author of "Room 24: Adventures of a New Evangelist" and "Follow: Your Lifelong Adventure with Jesus." This one-day event, which will also include praise and worship, games, skits, lunch and Mass, is open to youth in grades 6-8. The cost is $40 a person. Scholarships are available. Respect Life Month: Every life is cherished
The Catholic Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month each October to proclaim the immeasurable value of every person from conception to natural death. Catholics in Arkansas take part in events throughout the month, including Life Chain and 40 Days for Life, to put their faith into prayer and action. The 31st annual Life Chain Sunday will be held Oct. 7. It is always held on the first Sunday of October. 62 accepted as candidates for diaconate
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor accepted 62 men to candidacy for ordination during a special Mass Sept. 8 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. These candidates make up the Diocese of Little Rock permanent diaconate formation class of 2022. Previously called aspirants, these candidates have completed their first year of a five-year formation program. The first year focused on human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral formation. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor released the following statement, Sept. 10, 2018, disclosing the names of clergy who at some time served in Arkansas and who have been credibly accused of child sexual abuse. Professional Day to be held Sept. 28
The 82nd annual Arkansas Catholic Schools Professional Day will be held Friday, Sept. 28 at Christ the King School in Little Rock for Catholic school principals and teachers in Arkansas.
