The Diocese of Little Rock will host its one-day Senior High Youth Rally Sunday, Oct. 14 at Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock. This year’s theme, "Love Transforms Truth," which is based on John 8:11 will be presented by Katie Prejean McGrady. She is an international speaker and author of "Room 24: Adventures of a New Evangelist" and "Follow: Your Lifelong Adventure with Jesus." The Faith Formation Office has begun a new partnership with the Catherine of Siena Institute to offer workshops designed to build up faith and practice in Catholics as part of the new evangelization. These workshop are being offered from September 2018 through April 2019 across the Diocese of Little Rock. Called and Gifted workshops aim to help participants discover their own charisms. Typically children, usually those who recently received their first holy Communion, carry roses and place them at the feet of a statue of Mary while placing a crown of roses on top of Mary's head. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor announced the promotion of Theresa Hall as the new superintendent for Catholic schools on Thursday, Aug. 16. Hall joined the staff of the Diocese of Little Rock as associate superintendent of schools in 2009 after serving as principal at St. Edward School in Little Rock and teaching in Catholic schools for many years. She replaced Vernell Bowen, who served as superintendent until her retirement in June. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor released the following statement Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, regarding the Pennsylvania grand jury report that detailed a two-year investigation of more than seven decades of clergy sex abuse claims in the state. According to Catholic News Service, "at least 1,000 children identified in the investigation were raped in Catholic places of worship, in schools and in diocesan-owned vehicles, and were 'groomed' through diocesan programs and retreats so they could be molested, wrote members of a 23-person grand jury." ... Nearly 7,000 Catholic school students return to the classroom this week across Arkansas. There are 28 Catholic schools, including one new school in northwest Arkansas. Ozark Catholic Academy is opening Aug. 16 for ninth and 10th grade students in Tonitown with plans to add the 11th grade in 2019 and the 12th grade in 2020.
