The Catholic Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month each October to proclaim the immeasurable value of every person from conception to natural death. Catholics in Arkansas take part in events throughout the month, including Life Chain and 40 Days for Life, to put their faith into prayer and action. The 31st annual Life Chain Sunday will be held Oct. 7. It is always held on the first Sunday of October. Life Chain brings people together in a "peaceful and prayerful public witness" to form a line on sidewalks in cities across the United States and Canada. ... More

Bishop Anthony B. Taylor accepted 62 men to candidacy for ordination during a special Mass Sept. 8 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. These candidates make up the Diocese of Little Rock permanent diaconate formation class of 2022. Previously called aspirants, these candidates have completed their first year of a five-year formation program. The first year focused on human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral formation. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor released the following statement, Sept. 10, 2018, disclosing the names of clergy who at some time served in Arkansas and who have been credibly accused of child sexual abuse. The 82nd annual Arkansas Catholic Schools Professional Day will be held Friday, Sept. 28 at Christ the King School in Little Rock for Catholic school principals and teachers in Arkansas. This year's theme is: “Come and See.” Msgr. The Diocese of Little Rock Communications Day will be held Thursday, Oct. 11 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock for Catholic communicators in parishes, schools and religious orders across Arkansas. This new event is sponsored by Arkansas Catholic and the Catholic Schools Office. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include workshops, lunch and Mass. Classes in the St. Andrew School of Evangelization began in August and run through December to help participants go out into the world and proclaim the Good News. This program is offered on the parish level and is available to children 4-12, youth 13-17 and adults 18 and older. See our Calendar of Events to find details on courses, dates and locations.
